RMIT alumni joined the movement to promote sustainable businesses at the Alumni Green Business Showcase.

From November 4th to November 11th, RMIT University and its prominent alumni hosted an exhibition to highlight the green efforts of eight businesses in diverse industries led by those alumni.

On this occasion, they pioneered choosing cartons as the core materials for all printing products at the exhibition, such as booths, tables, and chairs. Traditionally, most of the event organizers in Vietnam will use Hiflex or Formex for printing material as an economical solution and to transport it conveniently. However, these materials are hard to recycle and decompose because of their plastic components.

This exhibition presents eight businesses: Cong Bang Corporation, Van Hoa Company, Vun Art, NUOA, Biti’s, Cocoon, FlyFeed, and BWT Company. Each of these companies is implementing diverse green initiatives or deploying a product line that contributes to sustainable development and positively impacts our community.

Cong Bang Corporation is one of the leading corporations in the construction industry, specializing in providing eco-friendly materials such as Thermobreak Hot and Cold Pipe Insulation and Softlon OEM, which are more eco-friendly than traditional materials and improve in-house air quality.

Van Hoa Company is a creative company, with its signature highlighting the beauty of ethnic-minority patterns. By promoting ethnic-minority culture in most of their creative works, Van Hoa is joining hands with those minority people to preserve their culture.

Vun Art is a social enterprise that supports people with disabilities to secure a stable job by helping them produce exquisite craftsmanship such as tote bags, T-shirts, and images from silk scraps from Van Phuc silk village.

As global warming is accelerating and many businesses rush for green solutions to tackle this issue, NUOA was founded to support these businesses in recording their greenhouse gas emissions effectively, thereby deploying suitable solutions for their organizations.

Biti’s as a fashion brand does not stay aside from this movement, so they deployed a collection named “Use Whatever Left” to make recycled shoes from leftover materials from commercial collections.

Cocoon, a vegan cosmetics brand from Vietnam, showcased their inspiring stories of contributing profit to humane projects such as preventing elephant riding and rescuing bears.

In the heart of Vietnam, Best Water Technologies (BWT) stands as a beacon of innovation and dedication to water quality. BWT presents an eco-conscious solution for sustainability that revolves around a simple yet powerful choice: say no to single-use plastic and embrace the consumption of filtered local water directly from your tap or BWT water dispenser.

Over 300 attendees were present at the exhibition, which served as an eco-friendly forum for environmentally conscious leaders to network and engage with sustainable projects. At this event, Ms. Manuela Spiga, Regional Senior Manager of Careers, Alumni & Industry Relations at RMIT University, said: “Through these purposeful interactions, we aim to inspire the next generation to embrace an ecologically conscious lifestyle and simultaneously establish sustainable business practices.”
