RMIT Alumni Team Launched Nationwide “Sạch Sành Sanh”

On June 2024, RMIT Alumni Team hosted the Sạch Sành Sanh launching event for introducing the nationwide project, gathering many environment activists to support, learn and share sustainability ideas. The event was attended by nearly 30 guests, working in different industries but having a common of being interested in sustainability and environment, including Vina CUES, Green Energy 1516, Vietcycle, VAN HOA, Creatio, The Curator, VP Bank, Keep Vietnam Clean, Truong Thinh, ChristinA-Q, BOO, SEV, Techcombank, Vietnam Green Building Council, and Savills.

The event started at sunset time, so the guests could enjoy the whole charming scene from the rooftop bar near the West Lake, wallowing in the beauty of nature. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the event organizer, setting an enthusiastic tone for the whole evening.

We are honored to have Mr. Hoang Pham, RMIT Alumni Relations Manager, flied from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to attend the event with us. His speech of the night was to introduce about the RMIT Alumni Community and the impact of the community in Vietnam.

The stage attracted even more attention from guests when a video clip introducing last year’s Green Showcase was played. The last year showcase witnessed many booths from brands with sustainable development criteria attended, such as VANHOA, CONG BANG COPORATION, Cocoon, Bitis, nuoa.io, BWT, Fly Feed, Vụn Art, …. The showcase successfully attracted RMIT staff, students and alumni, and external businesses and media to join it.

This year, the Sạch Sành Sanh with the vision of having more people, more impact, and more fun will bring the audience closer to the life of “Eat Clean, Live Clever, Be Continuity” in nationwide scale. The timeline of Sạch Sành Sanh started in May 2024 with the project to visit Duy Tan – sustainable factory – in Ho Chi Minh City. Next, last month, we hosted the Creative Artwork Contest in June for young artists across the country to spread the message Sạch – Sành – Sanh by designing tote bags and T-shirts. We are honored to have Jamlos and BOO, 2 pioneers in sustainable fashion brands in Vietnam, as partners for the contest. After 3 weeks, we had nearly 100 submissions from across the country for the contest, and the winners’ artworks were printed on Jamlos bags and BOO T-shirts as limited-edition products.

Mr. Viet Anh, CEO of BOO, had an inspiring speech about how BOO can be the pioneer in the sustainable fashion industry, by not only producing eco-friendly products, but also changing the working habits of all the staffs and his key message he brought to the event is “the small detail can change the whole picture”.

In next month, July, we will have the “Cook for a good Cause” project in Ho Chi Minh City to raise awareness about food waste and help the poor children to have a nutritious meal, and the A2A Circle, where C-level RMIT Alumni will have a place to discuss about sustainability industry in Vietnam. Another project in July is “Walking to plant trees”, will be hosted nationally. By downloading UpRace app, attendees can track their step count to exchange to tree. Each 10km walk equals 1 tree, and we aim to grow 1000 trees in Vietnam, specifically Dong Nai and Hanoi. Continuing the project is “Food Truck” in August in Ho Chi Minh City, also brings the message of food waste.

The Sạch Sành Sanh will end with the biggest Green Showcase in November, at RMIT Hanoi campus, opening for 15 booths. The special thing in the showcase is this is the first time there is Flea Market in the showcase, where brands can display their products, including fashion, accessories, households, electricity devices, books, ….

Organizer mentioned some questions that being asked by many guests, including:
