To explore the world

The thought of studying overseas in a classroom with a mix of people from different cultures inspired Phi Hang Giang to say farewell to Hanoi and head to Melbourne for her master’s degree at RMIT.
Having started her MBA in semester 1 this year, Giang is enjoying making new networks with a wide range of people.
“In studying at RMIT in Melbourne you can meet many kinds people from around the world. You can meet Chinese people, Indians, Canadians, Americans – there are many kinds of people,” she says.
“One of the main reasons I wanted to experience living and studying in another country is to improve my English and expand my networks. I’ve been lucky to meet some really nice people. I get to study with a lot of international people. I find that they all have their own perspectives. They’re really nice.”
After completing a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) at RMIT in Hanoi five years ago, Giang gained a diverse range of work experience in a consultancy firm and also in the fashion industry.
She has a long-term plan to return to Vietnam to take on a greater role in her family’s product packaging business, but hopes to stay in Melbourne longer to make the most employment opportunities after her MBA.
“I want to see the professional working environment and also get my networks,” she says.
“Melbourne is a really modern city. It has its own culture. Everyone is really friendly. When you walk around the streets, you meet many kinds of people from around the world. So it makes me feel comfortable and like I am at home.”
