Studying while working and being pregnant

Thai Thi Nhu Hang, Finance Manager for P&G Vietnam, experienced pregnancy for the first time as she completed her Executive MBA at RMIT in Ho Chi Minh City.

The journey to graduation day as an RMIT student has been special in many ways for Thai Thi Nhu Hang. While balancing her studies with full-time work, the Executive MBA student experienced pregnancy for the first time, giving birth to a baby boy two days after submitting her final assignment in September, 2018.

“It was extremely challenging, both physically and mentally, especially towards the end of my pregnancy. Instead of saving time for relaxation on the weekends, I spent my nights and weekends for assignments and doing teamwork. My to-do list became longer.”

“Sometimes I was confused about what to do first to catch up, as I had multiple deadlines. However, I was determined to achieve the goals. Somehow the baby made me feel stronger to overcome all the tough times. It was very nice that he allowed me to finish my last assignment before saying ‘hello’ to the world! I always was always looking forward to the new experiences and feelings of being a mother. To raise a child, we have to learn a lot of things.”

With eight years of work experience, Hang, Finance Manager for P&G Vietnam, chose to study the Executive MBA at RMIT to keep up to date with technological trends in the modern business world.
“I have upgraded myself with new know-how about the coming changes and I have become more confident to perform better at work. Also, I gained a great network of executives across industries to connect with. I will leverage all of these to continue my learning journey,” she says.
