AD SustainHub is a digital platform designed to support businesses across the Asia-Pacific in navigating sustainable packaging regulations. In response to evolving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies and industry needs, the platform offers country-level insights and helps users explore sustainable packaging options with greater confidence. As the project lead, I initiated and developed this solution during an internal innovation competition at Avery Dennison (called Pitch Your Vision), where I was awarded 1st prize. AD SustainHub reflects my commitment to combining digital solutions with environmental impact, empowering industries to make informed, responsible packaging decisions.
Collaboration proved essential in turning a concept into something truly impactful.
I am currently a management trainee at Avery Dennison, a global materials science company specializing in labeling and packaging solutions. As part of Avery Dennison’s regional management trainee program (LEAD Program), I work across commercial functions to identify innovation opportunities that align with sustainability and business impact. I was motivated by the growing demand across Asia-Pacific for sustainable packaging solutions, along with the confusion many businesses face when navigating complex, country-specific regulations. In particular, small and mid-sized enterprises often lack access to clear guidance or tools to support eco-friendly decisions.
With rising environmental concerns and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulatory pressure, sustainable packaging is not just a trend but a crucial enabler of the circular economy. I wanted to bridge the knowledge gap by developing a digital solution that simplifies EPR regulatory understanding and supports responsible packaging choices, ultimately contributing to broader sustainability goals. One of the key challenges I faced was translating complex sustainability data and EPR regulatory requirements into a user-friendly digital experience that would genuinely support decision-making. To address this, I worked closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and technical experts.
Together, we ensured the solution was practical, relevant, and aligned with real customer pain points. The process taught me the importance of starting small, validating early, and maintaining open communication. Collaboration proved essential in turning a concept into something truly impactful. My proudest moment came when the project evolved from an initial idea into a fully developed initiative that received strong support internally and was awarded first prize in an internal innovation competition, “Pitch Your Vision.”
Seeing colleagues and leaders respond positively to the concept was incredibly rewarding; it reinforced my belief that even with comparatively less experience, I could drive meaningful change by staying focused on purpose, sustainability, and problem-solving. This experience not only sharpened my leadership and communication skills but also deepened my commitment to using digital tools as a force for good to help businesses make more informed, responsible choices in an increasingly complex Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulatory environment.
