Drawing on my experiences studying, living, and working across Australia and Southeast Asia, I'm Thang Bui, bringing a deep cross-cultural perspective to foster sustainable development and local knowledge. I strongly believe that the bravery to break from tradition is key to innovation and creation.
I'm currently passionately creating "Connecting Youth for Impact Action", a platform envisioned to transform Southeast Asia into a sustainable region, powered by young people leading fulfilling lives. This platform will invest in one million Southeast Asian youth, empowering them to tackle humanity and climate change challenges through awareness, collaboration, and impactful solutions.
I truly believe that, when equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and connections, the younger generation will become the most powerful driving force for positive change.
My journey to establish Connecting Youth for Impact Action stems from a deep conviction forged during my time studying, living, and working across Australia and Southeast Asia. I observed a critical paradox: Southeast Asia holds immense human capital, particularly a vibrant youth population, yet many young people lack the opportunities, tools, and clear direction to translate their energy into meaningful, impactful action for their communities. The core problem I'm addressing is this gap between youth potential and their ability to realize tangible impact.
Young people often lack a reliable platform to connect, learn, and implement sustainable projects addressing pressing human and climate change challenges. I truly believe that, when equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and connections, the younger generation will become the most powerful driving force for positive change. While CYIA is still in its nascent stages, our vision and initial activities are already making a positive ripple in the fields of education and community development.
We've successfully organized five online and offline workshops, engaging over 500 young individuals in discussions on sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, and climate action solutions. We've also cultivated an online community of over 2,000 members, where young people actively share ideas, seek collaborators, and initiate small-scale projects. Notable member-led initiatives include local plastic waste reduction campaigns and an urban greening pilot project.
These numbers, though modest, clearly demonstrate the youth's eagerness to contribute and make an impact when empowered and connected effectively. These are crucial first steps toward our ambitious goal of investing in one million Southeast Asian youth. My connection to the RMIT network has been instrumental in shaping and advancing my work with CYIA. The robust foundation in business and management I gained from RMIT equipped me with the essential skills to build a sustainable organization.
Furthermore, the RMIT alumni network has opened doors to invaluable opportunities. I've been able to connect with like-minded alumni and faculty, gaining invaluable professional advice and even finding dedicated mentors eager to share their experiences. This network provides not just moral support but also a rich resource of talent and ideas, helping me refine CYIA's
