Newborns Vietnam (NBV) is a United Kingdom-registered charity licensed to operate as a non-governmental organization in Vietnam, dedicated to reducing neonatal mortality in Southeast Asia, with a specific focus on Vietnam. We believe that the most effective way of saving newborn lives starts with education and strengthening existing hospital-based care. Working in collaboration with our public health partners in Vietnam, we develop capacity to improve the survival of newborn infants and their long-term health outcomes.
A Decade of Dedication: Illuminating "Save Babies' Lives" with Newborns Vietnam. My profound commitment to Newborns Vietnam ignited in 2015, a pivotal moment sparked while filming a segment for an IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam documentary at Da Nang Hospital. It was during this visit that we captured the first hospital visit of professional triathletes and the impactful donation from female champion Caroline Steffen to Newborns Vietnam. Witnessing the critical work from Newborns Vietnam and inspiring moments from the athlete, I was deeply moved and made a personal promise to support Mrs. Suzanna Lubran and the organization however I could.
For the past decade, my company, Zoomations, has had the immense privilege of partnering with Newborns Vietnam to champion their vital mission: "Save Babies' Lives."Through sensitive and powerful video storytelling, we've documented their incredible journey to end preventable newborn deaths across Vietnam.
Over the years, our visuals have brought their impactful work to life, from celebrating newly trained medical professionals and empowering mothers to highlighting their success in significantly improving survival rates for preterm and critically ill babies in major hospitals in Hanoi and Da Nang through their neonatal postgraduate training programs.
More recently, we've showcased the scaling of their Newborn Life Support (NLS) program, which, in 2023–2024 alone, trained 428 health professionals from 40 provinces. We also documented the postgraduate training, where all nine enrolled doctors completed their course with an impressive 79% average mark.
This enduring partnership, extending to supporting the establishment of a Vietnamese NGO (the Center for the Support of the Development of Maternal and Neonatal Care in Vietnam—SSVN) for long-term sustainability, underscores our shared belief that "Every Baby Matters."
It's been an honor to use my passion for storytelling to inspire change and, ultimately, help save lives.
