On 29th July, RMIT Alumni welcomed more than 30 Alumni to reunite in the second A2A Circle in Hanoi: From Local to Global brand. Here, we have an exclusive discussion about applying ESG for sustainable development across industries.
In this day, we are delighted to have alumni and experts in Vietmed, United Nations, Mitalab Group, Truong Thinh, TMCORP, TNHH Gil Food, TNHH GSCCM Investment, ASEAN Business Partners, LGMEC Pte Ltd, Boydens Engineering, Viettel Construction, HSP Consulting, Mincore Vietnam, Truong Thinh, TMT Motors, SubWallet, Dai-ichi Life, RMIT University, Chicilon Media, and Techcombank. We believe this high impact, engaging time of A2A Circle in Hanoi is a joint effort to accelerate RMIT Alumni community, broaden the networking benefits, and enhance cooperation in the managerial level.
In this event, RMIT Alumni were proud to have guest speaker Nguyen Thi Huong Lien – Co-Founder and Vice Director of Sao Thai Duong to share the 20-year journey until the company earned the National Quality Gold Award given by the Prime Minister in 2020.
We were also delighted to have Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Country Manager of ASEAN Business Partner, and an active member of Advisory Board in RMIT Hanoi, as the host of this professional discussion.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Country Manager of ASEAN Business Partner, the professional services firm engaged in assisting international companies across industries grow their business in the ASEAN
To open the talk, Mrs. Huong Lien shared her experience playing the role of leading, inspiring and bringing Sao Thai Duong to become the leading pharmaceutical brand in Vietnam.
The system of Oriental medicine has been passed down from generation to generation, but it has primarily been transmitted through word–of–mouth. After a long time discovering and researching the ideal method for traditional medicine, Sao Thai Duong finally use Western medicine’s approach to highlight Orient’s advantages. Then, in early 2022, the company was also recognized as Vietnam National Brand, the prestige recognition for local brands that contribute to import, export, and boosting domestic market.
During the discussion, the topic of ESG model and Inclusive Business were brought up as essential components for innovation and success in today’s complicated environment. The secret of Sao Thai Duong is to apply the Change Management model from the Dutch, which, in simpler terms, is preparing for the difference. Therefore, “be mindful to be flexible and change” is the key to successful sustainable businesses. With that notion, Sao Thai Duong joins all efforts to internal training, prepare energy-saving methods, and have confidence in the firm’s development.
The Vice Director of Sao Thai Duong also inspired our alumni with her amazing, constant attempts to win the trust of strict foreign markets such as US, UK, and EU. Valuable insights also enlarged from Mr. Le Thanh Nghi, Director of Vietmed Co.,Ltd: “We, as business people, should make products that can bring as gifts to foreigner friends. Hence, in addition to bringing top-notch goods, we will also showcase for the world the beauty of a long-standing culture, and Vietnam’s heritage“.
Coming to Sao Thai Duong headquarter was also an immersive experience for our alumni. In this wooden building, we had a chance to visit the showroom and traditional room of Sao Thai Duong, take picture in the medical forest, and immersed in the scent of rare herbs from all over Vietnam.
Designed by Boydens Vietnam part of Sweco, Sao Thai Duong headquarter is the first and special office building project of this Belgian engineering firm in Vietnam, as it proudly brought them the Best Green Business category of the Eurocham Business Awards 2019.
“By carrying the philosophy of sustainability from Europe to Vietnam, we are honor to collaborate with Sao Thai Duong to apply the latest technology into the MEP design including rainwater recycling, super durable materials, and the air filtration system with essential oil” – said Mrs. Vu Ngoc Quynh Anh, Business Development Manager at Boydens Vietnam part of Sweco.
A2A Circle this July was also the opening event of Act Green, the campaign aims to feature the go green efforts of RMIT’s alumni businesses and our industry partners. By introducing sustainable initiatives and like-minded individuals, Act Green will help the eco-friendly lifestyle to be easier choice for everyone.
