[HCMC] Career Insights #3: Decode Real Case Studies with Industry Experts
As AI becomes the new norm of everyday infrastructure, early-career professionals must move beyond simply adopting AI tools to developing a strategic understanding of AI governance, implementation, and responsible use.
On Thursday, 30 July – Our event Career Insights #3 brought together junior professionals and accomplished alumni to dissect one of today’s defining workplace themes: AI and digital transformation. The event continued the series’ mission of connecting emerging talent with those who have successfully navigated the changes of AI across diverse industries.
Five senior alumni, each leading AI integration and digital transformation initiatives within their respective sectors, shared practical case studies and strategic perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption. Discussions covered topics including AI-driven productivity, AI governance, data extraction and analytics, and the effective use of AI for reporting and decision-making, offering valuable insights into the skills and mindsets needed to thrive in an AI-enabled workforce.
Career Insights #3 brought together fresh graduates and senior alumni for meaningful conversations on AI and digital transformation.
AI is Indeed the New Norm
The discussions throughout Career Insights #3 reflected a clear shift in perspective: the conversation is no longer about which AI tools to use, but how to apply them strategically across industries.
Rather than focusing on AI adoption alone, questions were raised about implementation, governance, and the pace at which professionals must adapt to an AI-driven workplace. When asked which industries would be most impacted by AI, many argued that its influence extends equally across every sector, from Marketing and Communications, Data and Technology, and Healthcare to Finance and Banking. As AI transitions from an emerging technology to a standard component of modern business, the central question becomes: How can organisations apply AI to achieve meaningful business outcomes?
Live polling encouraged attendees to reflect on how AI is shaping the way they work, learn, and solve problems.
AI vs Human: Building Governance is the Competitive Advantage
One of the strongest themes to emerge from the discussion was the role of human judgement in an AI-enabled workplace. Insight from our senior alumni highlighted that while AI can enhance productivity and automate tasks, governance, accountability, and trust remain fundamentally human responsibilities. A key takeaway echoed by all five senior alumni captured this reality: The hardest part of AI integration isn’t the technology, it’s scaling human skills.
Small-group discussions gave attendees the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss industry insights, and learn directly from industry leaders.
Advice for Fresh Graduates Entering an AI-Driven Workplace
When asked about the biggest mistake early-career professionals should avoid when incorporating AI into their work, the panelists highlighted the importance of slowing down before rushing into solutions.
Mrs. Kashish Bhambi, Chief Technology Officer at DIGI-TEXX, discussed the beginner tendency to tick every box simply because AI makes it possible.
Mrs. Vy Le, AI Director at Parcel Perform, echoed this statement, elaborating that many professionals tend to quickly jump to AI-driven solutions without defining the underlying business problem or developing an appropriate framework.
Together, these insights highlighted an important learning opportunity for fresh graduates. Technical familiarity with AI is expected, but the ability to think critically, ask the right questions, and apply AI with purpose will be the key to thrive in any sector.
