Take a chance to see the world

Going to Melbourne to study a short course gave Truong Huong Thuy a chance to do some research of her own.

As she was climbing the career ladder in the hotel industry at the same time as she was completing her Master of International Business through RMIT, Thuy took the chance in Australia to also explore some luxury hotels.

“I took that opportunity as something of a learning experience. I went to different corners of Melbourne to see some landmark hotels and venues so that I could observe and have my own immersion experience. It was a rewarding change of environment. It helped me to see a lot more of what people do on the other side of the world,” she says.

Thuy studied a postgraduate-level short course about luxury business management at RMIT’s city campus in Melbourne. The experience has helped her along her path to becoming Marketing and Communications Manager, InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72.

“In Melbourne, I got to meet with a lot of interesting people from completely different backgrounds. Melbourne is very unique environment. In one way, it’s a big city. But it’s also a very peaceful environment. The people are very chilled. I like the vibe. It’s not too hectic and it’s not too quiet.”
