Alumnus creates recruitment hub to place women

Entitled Canavi.vn, the online hub is the brainchild of RMIT Vietnam Bachelor of Commerce alumnus Nguyen Hoang Hai. Hai’s second online hub startup, Canavi specialises in recruiting part time sales persons, promotion persons, models, MCs, assistants, secretaries, and other positions.

“While running my first business ViVi Digital, I realised how hard it was to quickly find a model or promotion person for photographing or filming,” Hai said. “Now, the recruitment process has been shortened from a week to a half day or a couple of hours.

“Our objective is to develop Canavi into a leading online recruitment provider of female candidates in Southeast Asia by 2020.”

With a compact company structure of just eight official staff, Canavi has been continuously updated based on customer feedback, and a mobile application has been built for the convenience of both iOS and Android users.

“Although Canavi has operated for more than six months, it has only offered recruitment services since early May and has attracted about 30 partners each month,” Hai said. “Canavi stands for Career Navigation; I hope it will serve candidates’ longer term career guidance goals”.

The 26-year-old CEO graduated from RMIT Vietnam in 2012. In his fourth year of study, Hai initiated Hanoi Jam, a popular dance event attracting almost 10,000 participants. The event was not financially successful but helped Hai understand himself and his ability to run startups.

“It’s important to be resilient; in startups, the more failures you go through, the better your chances of success are later on,” Hai said.
