In this era, most of our actions profoundly impact the Earth and lives, and the way we eat is no exception. In recent years, many people have shifted towards a plant-based diet, which is mostly made from whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.
A plant-based diet does not mean people have to totally remove animal-based foods from their meals, it is about eating less animal-based food and increasing plant-based products. By doing this, we can benefit the environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint into the environment, preserving land, water, and biodiversity, and mitigating deforestation and habitat destruction.
In addition to environmental benefits, a plant-based diet also brings health benefits. Vegetables and fruits provide a large amount of vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants, which can improve not only our immune system but also our energy levels. When we follow this diet, we consume less meat and processed food, which helps reduce the risk of obesity and chronic diseases.
Many people misunderstand that a plant-based diet means going vegan. In fact, we can still include meats, fish, eggs, or milk into this diet, but plant-based food should be the main components.
This artwork, ”PLANT-BASED”, is the illustration of a lunch box with a variety of plant-based foods like rice, vegan spring rolls, tofu, mushroom, vegan soup, fruits, and oat milk. I believe that a plant-based diet is not boring, we can find a lot of plant-based recipes on the Internet, which are not only nutritious but also fancy and colorful.
Let's try a plant-based diet to contribute to protecting the environment and nourishing our health.
