One Brick at a Time – Transforming a Family Legacy Through Innovation
Upon graduating with a degree in Textiles and Fashion Merchandising, I dedicated seven years to gaining practical experience in the fashion industry. During this period, I secured a well-paying position with a competent employer. However, I found myself contemplating whether I desired a life of consistent employment or a career in services that would have a tangible impact. This realization led me to transition into the printing industry.
I am acutely aware of the rapid advancements in technology and changing customer behavior after COVID-19. I believe that this opportunity will only arise within the next two to three years. I am filled with excitement and eager to elevate our business to new heights. I initiated discussions with my family to resign from my current position and was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the family business that my parents had established.
The initial year of any new role presents its own set of challenges. As the F2 leader, you face double the stress. Nevertheless, progress and moving forward are the keys to overcoming obstacles. Employees will recognize your enthusiasm, energy, and experience, which will undoubtedly earn you their respect. By consistently building one good brick every day, you will eventually achieve remarkable success.
As a leader, my primary objective is to foster a culture of growth and development within the company. I envision a future where the growth of the business is directly linked to the performance and contributions of our employees.
The traditional method of printing paperwork for executive orders and storing numerous design changes has proven inefficient. This process is time-consuming and requires a few individuals to take sole responsibility for remembering and managing the history of changes. To address this, I have implemented part of an ERP system that enables everyone to locate, track, and resolve issues more effectively and quickly.
Furthermore, I am committed to assembling a dynamic team of young professionals who are eager to learn, adapt, and provide support to our experienced team members. When I observe our employees inviting their family members to join our company, I am confident that this approach will cultivate a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Additionally, it is imperative to establish a robust network of dependable material suppliers who can provide us with favorable lead times, consistent quality, and competitive pricing. This approach will mitigate the risks associated with relying on a limited number of suppliers.
I am particularly appreciative of the invaluable experiences and knowledge acquired during my time at RMIT. The university’s diverse range of projects, assignments, courses, lecturers, friends, events, and part-time jobs have significantly shaped my mindset and expertise. Furthermore, the vibrant RMIT Alumni community has been instrumental in enhancing my networking skills and providing valuable insights from various perspectives.
